Pirates in a thriller



The Pirates scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 in front of 5,431 fans at McKechnie Field.
Josh Harrison singled in Jordy Mercer with the tying run before Alex Presley scored the game-winner on Carlos Paulino’s fielder’s choice.
Harrison also doubled in a run.
Brad Hawpe homered and Presley scored two runs for the Pirates (7-10).
PROSPECT OF THE GAME: Orioles outfielder L.J. Hoes went 2-for-3 with a RBI. Hoes, 23, hit .300 last year with Baltimore’s Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk and got two at-bats with the Orioles. He is hitting .375 this spring.
UP NEXT: The Pirates are off today. They return to action Wednesday when they host the Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05 p.m. James McDonald goes for the Pirates and the Toronto will counter with Mark Buehrle.
