Despite five stellar innings of two-hit, shutout ball, starting pitcher Vance Worley will have to settle for a no decision. The Pirates, however, will take another Grapefruit League victory.
A two-run home run by former Pirate Steve Pearce knotted the score at two in the sixth inning -- you can read more about him in Monday's Bradenton Herald -- but Pittsburgh scored twice in the eighth inning to claim a 4-2 win at McKechnie Field. A Gorkys Hernandez RBI single that drove in Stetson Allie gave the Pirates the winning run.
Pittsburgh is off Monday and relief pitcher Jared Hughes suggests it's a real off day---nobody is coming to the ballpark for anything. The Pirates will be back in action on Tuesday with a 1:05 p.m. start against the Astros at McKechnie.
