Final: Red Sox 5, Pirates 1
It's a wrap at McKechnie as the Red Sox defeated the Pirates 5-1 in front of 8,455 fans today. That was good for the third sellout in five home games this spring and the third largest in McKechnie history.
David Ortiz and Pablo Sandoval's home runs accounted for the four-run third inning that contributed to the victory. Boston is 7-2 this spring, while the Pirates are now 4-4.
Andrew McCutchen provided the Bucs' lone run when he hit a sacrifice fly to left field in the bottom of the first inning.
Pittsburgh returns to McKechnie Field on Friday for a 1:05 p.m. scheduled game against the Minnesota Twins. It's the second time the Twins are in Bradenton this week. The two sides met last Monday, which ended in a 1-1 tie.
